Itinerary 1: Bilbao to Santiago de Compostela
1st Day: Bilbao-Santander
On the first day of the trip we will be waiting for you at 10 am at Bilbao-Concordia station. We will board the train, and make the presentation of the crew that will assist you during the tour. Next, we will assign your room, so you can accommodate your belongings and have a first look at the comfortable cabin that will be your accommodation.
Then we will start a panoramic tour of Bilbao and you will have the opportunity to get to know the Guggenheim Museum. We will return to the train to enjoy an exquisite meal on board while we head towards Santander.
In the afternoon you will visit the city of Santander and you will also have free time to stroll around the city. Later, we will have dinner in a prestigious restaurant in Santander. For those who wish it, can optionally visit the Casino del Sardinero. We’ll be back on the train to overnight in Santander.
2nd: Santander-Santillana-Llanes
On the morning of the second day of the Costa Verde Express tour, we will start with breakfast in the restaurant car of our luxurious train, while enjoying the journey to Cabezón de la Sal town. There we will be waiting for the coach that will take us to the medieval village of Santillana del Mar, to visit the neo-cave of Altamira , an essential place to learn about prehistory and our ancestors.
After tasting an appetizing lunch in Santillana del Mar, we will return to the train to reach into the Asturias region as far as Llanes, where we will take a walk through this privileged town. Dinner on board the train and overnight in Llanes.
3rd Day: Llanes-Picos de Europa-Oviedo
After breakfast we will start a coach trip with the first stop of the day in Cangas de Onís. We will continue to cross the heart of the Picos de Europa to visit two very special places: the Sanctuary of Covadonga, which houses the Virgin of Covadonga or the “Santina” , as popularly dubbed it by Asturians and Lake Enol, going up to the Lakes of Covadonga .
Then we will return to the train and follow our tour to Oviedo, while serving us on board an exquisite lunch. We will visit Oviedo, the capital of the Principality of Asturias, a city famous for its pre-Romanesque monuments and hosting the prestigious Princess of Asturias Awards.
We will return to the train for dinner, and nightlife shows in one of the spectacular cars. The train will stay at Oviedo station to overnight.
4th: Oviedo-Gijón-Luarca
After reenergizing with a full breakfast, the day will begin by strolling through Gijón, city with beautiful sea views and the ideal place to stroll and explore its charming corners. We will have free time in Gijón and after lunch in one of its traditional restaurants, we will continue by train to our final destination of the day, in Luarca , near the Galician border. We will visit this town and in the evening we will have dinner on board and a well-deserved rest.
5th: Luarca-Ribadeo-Viveiro
In the morning we will start the march towards Galician lands, while we have comfortable breakfast on the train. Ribadeo will be the first Galician enclave where we will stop on our route. In this beautiful town there will be time to see its main attractions and taste the dishes of the typical gastronomy.
After lunch, the train will take us to Viveiro, where we will visit this essential city of A Mariña Lucense. Finally, we’ll have dinner on board and spend the night in Viveiro.
6th: Viveiro-Santiago de Compostela
On our last day aboard the Costa Express train, we will have breakfast while admiring the splendid landscapes on the way to Ferrol, where we will say goodbye to the crew and depart with our coach to Santiago de Compostela, the Galician capital. We will visit this wonderful city of pilgrims and get to know the famous Cathedral. Then we will eat at Parador Reyes Católicos, where we will say goodbye to this fantastic 6-day trip in northern Spain.
Itinerary 2: Santiago de Compostela to Bilbao
1st Day: Santiago de C.-Ferrol-Viveiro
We will welcome you at the Parador Reyes Católicos de Santiago de Compostela at 10:00am. After that, we will be able to visit with a local guide the historic center of this city, including the impressive Cathedral. At lunchtime, we will enjoy lunch with traditional Galician cuisine in the restaurant of the Parador (hotel).
In the afternoon we will leave by the coach that always accompanies our train, heading to Ferrol where to embark on the Costa Express. We will present the crew who will accompany you during the trip and the corresponding distribution of the rooms.
We will start the march in our luxury hotel on wheels to Mariña Lucense, where we will visit Viveiro and have free time before dinner in the restaurant car. We’ll be overnight in Viveiro.
2nd Day: Viveiro-Ribadeo-Oviedo
We will depart from Viveiro by train to the town of Ribadeo. On the way, we will take advantage of an exquisite breakfast on board. Already in Ribadeo, we will take the opportunity to make a visit to the most interesting places, we will have free time to walk and enjoy a full meal in one of its restaurants.
Again on the train, we will embark on our way to the Asturias region, arriving at Luarca, the White Villa on the Costa Verde. We will visit Luarca and then head to Oviedo, where we will overnight and have the usual dinner and entertainment on board.
3rd Day: Gijón-Oviedo-Llanes
After reenergizing with a full breakfast, the day will begin by coach to Avilés, and its old town,among the most beautiful in Asturias, declared Historic-Artistic Complex in 1955.
Then we will arrive in Gijón, city with beautiful sea views and the ideal place to stroll and explore its charming corners. We’ll have free time in Gijón. After have our lunch in one of its traditional restaurants we will continue to Oviedo, the capital of the Principality of Asturias , a city famous for its pre-Romanesque monuments and for hosting the prestigious Princess of Asturias Awards.
In the late afternoon we will travel aboard the Costa Express to Llanes. We’ll have dinner on board and spend the night in Llanes.
4th: Picos de Europa-Llanes-Cabezón de la Sal
After breakfast, the coach will take us to the heart of Picos de Europa to visit two very special places: the Sanctuary of Covadonga, which houses the Virgin of Covadongaor the “Santina”, as popularly nicknamed it the Asturians and Lake Enol, going up to the Lakes of Covadonga.
After lunch, we will head to the village of Llanes. Then we will depart for Cantabrian lands. We will enjoy an exquisite dinner on board and have a night in Cabezón de la Sal.
5th: Cabezón de la Sal-Santillana del Mar-Santander
After our usual and replenishing breakfast, we will visit the Medieval Village of Santillana del Mar and the Neo-cave of Altamira, an essential place to know about prehistory and our ancestors.
While we eat in the restaurant car, the train will arrive in Santander. We will visit the city and also have free time to explore on your own. We will have dinner in a restaurant in Santander, and those who wish, can optionally visit the Casino del Sardinero. We will return to the train to overnight in Santander and rebuild strength for the next day.
6th Day: Santander-Bilbao
On the last day of our trip on the Costa Verde Express train, we will enjoy breakfast while the train advances to Basque lands, reaching the Biscayan capital, Bilbao.
We will make a complete visit of the city and have lunch in one of its most traditional restaurants. After lunch we will go back to the train around 16:00 hours, to proceed to pick up our luggage and say goodbye to the crew.
